It is owned and operated by the United Kingdom province of the De La Salle brothers. The centre was set up by Damian Lundy in 1975 and is housed in a small manor house known as Wallingtons at Inglewood in western Kintbury. It is set in picturesque grounds with landscaped gardens. This country setting offers a quiet atmosphere for those who attend retreat weekends. ==Wallingtons== The manor of Wallingtons in Kintbury dates from the early 13th century. Robert de Wallington purchased the place in 1231 and it became named after his family. In the late 15th century, it was purchased by William Waynflete, the Bishop of Winchester. He gave it to his foundation at Magdalen College, Oxford. They remained in possession until 1859, but rented it out to tenants. The present manor house was built in the late 16th century.
